Hitting the trails? Here’s where to stay during your next ATV / UTV trip in Central Wis.

ORV trails are officially open across Wisconsin and many folks are more than ready to pack up and go riding for the weekend. Need suggestions on where to stay in Central Wisconsin with access to trails? We asked seasoned riders on our team to give us their suggestions. Read on for your next off-road adventure.
- Doc’s Bunkhouse, Merrillan, WI: Doc’s is located on 100’s of miles of scenic trails in Jackson and Clark counties. About 20 minutes southwest of Neillsville, Doc’s has accommodations for every type of ORV rider from campsites to cabins to RV sites. There’s a bar/ restaurant onsite, tiki bar for summer days and nights, a volleyball court and many connecting trails to choose from. Doc’s also hosts numerous rider-friendly events like music, rides, contests, mud pits, raffles and more.
- Knobby Ridge Motorcycle Trail System, Neillsville, WI: Looking for off-road motorcycle trails? Clark County has a great option at Knobby Ridge. More than 6 miles of one-way trails wind and loop through a portion of the 133,000-acre Clark County Forest. Convenient trail access is located on Hwy 10. Overnight accommodations are available at nearby county campgrounds and there is rough camping on site with electrical hookups available. There’s also a Super 8 hotel in Neillsville if camping isn’t your thing.
- Black Creek Lodge, Fair Child, WI: Located on the QUAD County ATV Trails in Eau Claire County, Black Creek Lodge has both cabin rentals and campsites perfect for ORV riders. The cabins and campsites are located conveniently at the junction of Clark, Jackson and Trempealea counties making it a prime destination for trail riders. Black Creek is also great for family fun and has activities including a swimming pond with inflatables, an on-site restaurant (known for their all-you-can-eat buffets), a picnic pavilion and indoor horseshoe pits that double as a pole shed for events. Looking for your next team retreat, family reunion or ladies’ getaway? They also have a 6-bedroom retreat center with a large commons area, tables and chairs for 12 workstations. Great for large gatherings, team building, crafting, and more.
- Crawford Hills County Park, Black River Falls, WI: Another option for both ATV/UTV and off-road motorcycle trails is located just 15 miles east of Black River Falls. There’s rough camping on-site and direct access to over 100 miles of trails for ATV/UTV and dual-sport motorcycle riders. Facilities include water, shelter building, loading ramp for ATV/UTVs and restrooms. Roughing it overnight not your thing? Grab a hotel room in nearby Black River Falls. Another plus: If you like to hunt antiques, Black River Falls and Hixton won’t disappoint.
- Russel County Park, Merrillan, WI: Connected to the Clark County and Jackson County ORV trail systems, Russel County Park has all the great things campers and trail riders want: trail access, water frontage, campsites with full RV hookup, a store and even a laundromat on site. It’s Clark county’s largest campground and boasts an 821-acre lake with great fishing. The campground is also near Levis Mound Recreational Area which has great hiking and mountain bike trails.
- Hatfield, WI:
- Hatfield, located in Jackson County is a camping and cabin mecca with numerous campgrounds, B&B’s, cabin rentals, and other accommodations in the area. Here are just a few camping options but there are a ton of cabin rentals to be found on VRBO as well.
- Riviera Resort and Campgrounds – Has both camping and cabin rentals, ORV trail access and lake access. There’s also a nice bar and restaurant onsite and live music most weekends during the summer.
- East Arbutrus and West Arbutrus Campgrounds- Both located on lake Arbutrus, the campgrounds have access to ORV trails, shower houses, electrical hookup, restrooms, boat launch, hiking trails and more. West Arbutrus also has a playground and public beach area with a great sand beach.
- Hixton / Alma Center KOA – Your typical KOA camping experience – family-friendly camping with a fishing pond, swimming pool, giant jumping pillow, ball pit and more.
- Pineland Camping Park, Arkdale, WI: Looking for a family-friendly campsite near Dyracuse Off-road Recreational Park? Just 5 miles south is Pineland camping park. It has tons of amenities including RV- and tent-friendly campsites, bathrooms and showers, cabin and trailer rentals, and a kid’s “funland” with a giant inflatable water slide, mini golf, basketball, jumping pillow, game room, foosball, mechanical bull, water wars and MORE.
- Dexter Park ATV Campsites, Pittsville, WI: New for 2020, ATV/UTV-specific campsites are now available at Dexter Park, located 6-miles south of the quaint town of Pittsville. The park is located on 1,235 acres around Lake Dexter which is known for its fishing. The campground features include an enclosed shelter, open shelter, playground, beach areas, hiking trail and an accessible area to fish for people with disabilities.
